When it comes to safaris, nothing can beat the experience of an African safari. With gorgeous sceneries and an abundance of wildlife, an African safari in itself is diverse. One of the best ways to enjoy an adventure is to undertake a Kenya jungle safari.

Kenya is popularly called the heart of East Africa. This stunning safari destination provides you with authentic African safaris that cannot be experienced anywhere else. Kenya has several national parks and reserves which are not only filled with various animal species but also a thriving ecosystem. The untamed wilderness of Africa is well reflected by Kenya.

The concept of ‘safari’ originated in Kenya itself and holds an important meaning to it. Going on a safari in this country does not only reveal its history but you also get to live it. Today, safaris not only showcase nature but also elaborate on the importance of protecting it.

There are endless reasons why you should choose a Kenya jungle safari. Some of them are:

Beautiful national parks and reserves

Undoubtedly, the highlight of Kenya is its well-maintained and huge national parks. Many of the national parks are also reserves and house several conservancies. Just one glimpse at them reveals the stunning landscapes which are home to an abundance of wildlife.

Masai Mara National Park is one of the most popular national parks, not only in Kenya but around the world. Its widespread grasslands and savannahs comprise of an iconic scenery, appearing straight out of a postcard. Several animal species such as the Big Five and various other animals call the Mara their home. Similarly, Amboseli National Park, lake Nakuru, Samburu, and Tsavo are just some of the parks and reserves in Kenya, that offer unforgettable safaris in beautiful settings. Off-beaten path experiences in Laikipia, Lewa, Meru, Aberdare, and many more reveal an underrated side of Kenyan wildlife.

The Great Migration

Dubbed as the seventh wonder of the world and the largest migration in the animal kingdom, the Great Migration is unlike anything you will ever witness. It is an incredible display, capturing the essence of the survival of the fittest. This annual migration consists of millions of wildebeest and thousands of other plain animals such as zebras, gazelles, and impalas. They take on the challenge to journey across two countries – Kenya and Tanzania, in search of food and water, following an age-old route.

The migration is best seen in the large national park of Masai Mara where the herds face numerous obstacles. Predators on the lookout follow the herds to hunt for them and this increases predator-prey interaction in the Mara. Moreover, witnessing events during a safari such as the calving season and the deadly Mara River crossing is thrilling. A true Kenya safari is incomplete without seeing the Great Migration.

An array of activities

Safari or game drives are the most popular activities to do in Kenya. Nothing appears more adventurous than spotting the Kenyan wildlife in a 4WD. To widen the experiences, many national parks of Kenya offer several exciting activities. In parks like Masai Mara and Amboseli, you can hop on a hot air balloon ride and marvel at the wilderness from above. Or you can go on a walking safari tour where you can see nature and wildlife as close as humanely possible.

Few of the reserves and conservancies allow you to go for a night safari wherein the animal kingdom seemingly comes alive. Bird-watching tours, offered in national parks, allow you to witness common and rare birds living in the park. Boat safaris are also an interesting way to explore wildlife from a different perspective. It is best taken in Lake Nakuru. Besides spotting various animal species by the bank, boat safaris allow you to closely witness animals like hippos, crocodiles, and several bird species including millions of pink flamingoes. For fellow hikers, several hiking routes have been established to explore the mountains and hills of Kenya.

Immerse in distinct cultures

Did you know that Kenya is home to around 70 ethnic groups? These tribes mainly reside in the national parks and conservancies, inhabiting the lands since a long period of time. When it comes to African safaris, the experience not only involves learning about wildlife and nature but also gaining knowledge about the culture. In Kenya, Kikuya is the most populous tribe, residing in the country’s central region. Luhya, which are part of the Bantu group, live in the western region of Kenya and are the second-largest tribe in the country.

However, the most popular are the Maasai people, easily recognizable in their red-stripped attires. They are well-known for their culture and conservation initiatives. During a Kenya safari, you can have the opportunity to meet the Maasais, learn about their rituals, hear about folklores, and even take part in their traditional dance or jumping contest.

World Class Accommodation

Kenya is renowned for offering world-class accommodations, even amid the wilderness. One has a plethora of choices to choose from when it comes to accommodation in Kenya.

Many national parks and reserves offer different types of stay options, ranging from camps to lodges. They are built to mimic the ambiance of camping in the wild, but incorporate all the amenities for a luxurious stay. You can opt to spend your nights in exclusive tented camps which provide the true essence of camping. Rustic lodges which are cozy but have the services of a hotel are sprawled all over the parks and reserves of Kenya. These accommodations are set in rich wildlife areas so that wildlife viewing becomes much easier from one’s camp or lodge.

The best time to visit Kenya

The best time to plan your safari in Kenya is during the dry season, anywhere between June to October. Not only does the weather remain pleasant, but the dry vegetation makes wildlife spotting much easier. Moreover, most of the animals are also seen congregating near watering holes, especially during this season. During these months, you can also spot the Great Migration and the Big Five animal species.

A Kenya safari is nothing short of an exhilarating adventure. To plan your very own Kenya jungle safari today, make sure to contact a reputed and experienced travel company for the best vacation of your lifetime.
